Ever heard of an ELFer?
No, it isn’t a cute name for Santa’s little pals at the North Pole. No they don’t sport pokie pointy ears either. (Although, I suppose some of them could since I have never actually met one). But they definitely DO make some wishes come true!
An ELFer is actually a person who works for a company that our family loves called Enjoy Life Foods! I know they have certainly made a few wishes come true in our home for sure. Our son would have never have even come close to eating a Snickerdoodle cookie at two years old when we were at our worst with his condition. It truly made his day when he saw the very first box arrive from UPS…knowing it was for HIM!
This company makes food that is free of the eight most common allergens! This means that they are free of wheat/gluten, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish or shellfish and they still taste oh-so-goooood. Their facility is located in Illinois and is a dedicated nut and gluten-free bakery so that those with sensitivities do not have to worry about cross contamination or residue of any kind. The measures taken to ensure a high quality and safe product are invaluable. They even require that their ingredient suppliers fill out non-contamination certificates and they perform routine gluten rapid tests for extra assurance. This really IS reassuring for someone like me who has a child with food allergies and anaphalaxis.
For those who have any kind of dairy issues at all- you can feel at peace knowing that not only are their products dairy free…but they are also casein and lactose free! Ingredients are tested, equipment is cleaned thoroughly after product and flavor changes following good manufacturing procedures and “every Enjoy Life employee understands the severity of food allergies and intolerances and takes careful precautions to protect our customers”.
We have tried and loved the Snickerdoodle cookies,
the chocolate chip cookies,
and a few others…but our favorite has been their chocolate chips!! It’s been hard to find those ANYwhere else that are not contaminated in some way.
One thing that I really enjoyed reading at their very thorough and informative website was that “At Enjoy Life, our whole business is making smile-good foods that keep people’s insides happy too.
