Are you ready to transform yourself from inside out? Are you ready to make huge changes in your life that will make you a totally different person? Are you ready to turn over a new leaf and be all that you hope to be?
Sound overwhelming?
Yeah, I know. It sounds completely exhausting to me too! *out-of-breath* How are we supposed to take on these new challenges…setting such high expectations for ourselves and then NOT get frustrated along the way?
I recently read a great article by Dr. Wallin, who is a clinical psychologist in Pennsylvania. She is a frequent contributor to local and regional news media, and has been the editor of The Pennsylvania Psychologist, a monthly publication of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association according to http://mentalhealth.about.com/od/selfhelp/a/newyears2.htm. In this Dr Wallin outlined several tips on how to make New Year’s resolutions stick. Loved it!
1. Examine your motivation for change
2. Set realistic goals
3. Focus on the behavioral change more than the goal
4. Learn to redefine physical sensations of discomfort
5. Make tasks non-negotiable
6. Allow for imperfection
7. Do it now
(Follow the above link for more on each of these)
New Year’s Day is only one day of a much deeper commitment. Many who seek to better themselves this New Year fail within the first days or weeks, becoming so frustrated and guilty of back-sliding that they ultimately “give up”. Changes take time. It has been shown that for any habit or change to become routine, it takes at least 21 days of repetition.
In order to achieve optimal wellness, I have outlined several proactive steps in a 6 part wellness series moving us towards a healthy 2010.
1. Healthy Relationships
2. You are what you eat (foods and supplements)
3. Stress Management and the art of disconnecting
4. Fitness “You want me to do WHAT on that ball”??
5. Money Matters “Comfort is key”
6. Romance (oooh laaa laaa) *Oh yes I am saving the best for last *wink* ;)
The sixth and final week will lead us right into Valentine’s Day. So be sure to let everyone know that your new and improved self loves and deserves chocolates and candies!
2010? We are on it! Awesome, healthy, fun, and the perfect time for self-improvement!
Bring it on. Bring it on.

Looking forward to it!
