Make Stuff Monday ~ Kids Printable Chore Chart!

Make Stuff Monday ~ Kids Printable Chore Chart!

Make Stuff Monday~

I ran across DLTK’s Website a few years ago when I was teaching a Pre-K class in an early childhood school – and I love it! It has a lot of great ideas for educators as well as parents to create fun and personalized “teaching tools” and developmentally appropriate activities for children of all ages.

Our family has personally come to rely on and enjoy their printable chore charts that can be customized to meet your family’s needs. It’s super easy to create, as it walks you through a series of seven steps – including your choice of images, title, column and row headings and what chores you would like for your child to participate in.

Our kids love the image selection! They not only feel included and important in the design of their chore chart, but it is fun for them to pick their own characters and background. This is great from a parent’s perspective to help “kick-start” their motivation ;) “Most experts agree that chores are good for children” according to WebMD, who discusses many valid reasons why teaching children responsibility is healthy and beneficial to their development.

“Shauna” (a DLTK reader) has included a wonderful “green” idea to incorporate with these! She suggests, “after you’ve created your chart you can get your child to color it and then get it laminated so that you can just wipe it clean every week. Saves a lot of paper in the end and it only cost a couple of dollars to get it laminated”. Thanks Shauna for an awesome green tip!
