Something snuck up on me the other day, causing me to pause. As I wrapped our M up one evening in her favorite pink bath towel, I was surprised with “This towel is too short mama”.
Huh? (I know, deep right)
Then,
I began thinking about how I used to want to hurry up and grow up when I was little. Now in my thirties, I often wonder why time keeps going so fast. It seems to get faster and faster and I thought – how funny – but not like “ha ha” funny – but funny weird. And weird like – the kind of weird that makes one annoyed. So I thought.
and thought.
and thought a little more.
Then I poured myself a glass of red wine to contemplate even further. Here is what I came up with. Disclaimer: the alcohol in no way affected this post
Kids: “when I get older I want to be…”
Teens: “no way will I ever get old”
20′s: “Getting old is fab”
30′s “I am NOT old – they’re laugh lines”
40′s Ā ”Oh no, I think I might be getting old.
50′s I feel old – do I look old?
60′s “Yeah I’m old, so what? Get me my senior discount”
70′s “I might be old, but I feel young!”
80′s “I know. I am old. I look old, I feel old. Sh*t – Pour me a martini”
90′s Thank God I lived to be this old. How old am I anyways?
There you have it. The cycle of life through the eyes of a woman and her Merlot.
So, I did what any thirty twenty-something would do and headed straight for my honey. This girl needed a facial. Some days it just doesn’t take much to send me over the edge. But I kid you not , all it takes is a little raw honey ladies. Smear on the nectar of the bees, sit back and let it work it’s magic. After about 30 minutes you just rinse and go!
So that’s my random chatter on the cycle of life. Stay tuned until next time.

This was a great post. Very funny. In some ways I want my five year old to grow but it has to do with, “Please grow out of this naughty phase”. They are super cute at this age so in other ways it’s, “Don’t get any bigger. Just stay 3 1/2 feet tall until you go to college”. Passing my mid thirties my butt has gotten bigger so I am finally starting to feel “I’m getting older. !@#$”
This is a great site. I’m going to read your journey with allergies and milk next.
