Yep – I am doing a lazy girl post. Not only did I miss the “One Small Change” on the first, but I am combining my change with “Change The World Wednesday”. Hey – this frugal girl is always all about two-for-ones. So I figured “why the heck not”!!! I am going for efficiency here.
Hip Mountain Mama has a cool idea each month until Earth day to encourage all of us in sharing green changes we are making in our lives…which just so happens to be what my good friend Small Footprints does each and every Wednesday! So there – a two-for-one that is not only efficient BUT helps mother Earth. *cheesy grin*
Oh but then WAIT! Perhaps I could throw in a Wordless Wednesday too??? *mua-ha-ha (not super wordLESS but still).
This is my “new-ish” Tommy coat! I so love it. This Mama Greeny got it at a local garage sale for 20 buck-a-roos! Now I know the fabric is not green (figuratively speaking) BUT garage sales are – right! (hoping you will justify this purchase). Do you approve? I sure hope so – considering I already took the tags off.
On to this month’s/week’s change? Our family has done away with crap plastic. Isn’t that crap-tastic? Yup – See all this?
YUCK. Gone. No more.
I have read enough on the jank that seeps out in crap-plastic that I refuse to allow it in our kitchen. I don’t want our kiddos eating BPA cheerios and we are sticking with safe and non-toxic kitchen goodies. We still have a ways to go but we are certainly making progress.
What improvements do you see here that could be made? I think I need to find something non-plastic for our silverware, there’s a plastic kids apron in there….um, what about ceramic mugs? Hmmmm.
Any one have the 411 on Calphalon cookware? What about Armetale dishes? I need to put on my “Double O” SGM badge and snoop around for some info on their safety. Anyone wanna join me? You can have a badge too! If you are in – please report back with the low-down

WhooHoo … love that you are eliminating plastic from your life. It’s hard to do … so many things come in plastic. I hope you’ll be writing about it and updating us, from time to time, on a non-plastic journey!
Thanks for the Change The World Wednesday “plug” … I appreciate it and thank you for joining the challenge!
I’ve been cutting out plastic for some time now, but still have a long ways to go as well! I was recently contemplating what it would take to not buy anything (food, household products, natural medicines, etc)that came in or wrapped with plastic. One walk through my house made it clear it would be far tougher than I first thought… I’m planning on writing about it some time soon, and I’ll share when I do. In the mean time kuddos for you on ridding yourself of plastic! Oh, and I have a suggestion for the silverware. What I’ve been doing in my house for a while now is to have individual mason jars (pint size) to hold each type of silverware. They are lined up on the counter and it is so convenient and looks cool too!
Oh wow – how awesome an idea on the mason jars and silverware! I love it
Thanks too for coming over to my blog – I will look forward to your post on plastic too!
This is a great change! I hear more and more people realizing the negative effects of plastic and getting it out of their lives! We still have such a long way to go with ridding the world of all the plastic crap, but if we could just start with buying less or none at all, then the companies would get the hint and stop producing so many plastic things! We vote with our dollars! Way to go lady!!
Suzy
