Feature Friday: Earth
An incredible and fantastic world-wide event is about to begin! Some of you may be wondering, “what exactly is Earth Hour”?
Earth Hour is a global event that was created and organized by World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness towards the need for all of us to take action on climate change. During Earth Hour, billions of people around the world will come together “by doing something quite simple—turning off their lights for one hour. The movement symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in this fight, protecting our future and that of future generations” myearthhour.org.
Since Earth Hour began just three years ago it has become a phenomenon across the world, involving 4,100 cities in 87 countries, speaking together in one united voice. It has swept across the globe from the Empire State Building to the Sydney Opera House…from Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio to the Great Pyramids of Giza! This. is. powerful. (Wow – isn’t it awesome to see all of Earth’s community come together as one population for the good of our planet)?
It takes all of us making small changes to make the biggest impact! So don’t forget to set your clock on Saturday, March 27th 2010 at 8:30 p.m. local time – when “Earth Hour will once again cascade around the globe” myearthhour.org.
