Someone that I recently “met” who is a funny, adventurous and passionate food allergic Tweep of mine is……
Patricia Biesen!!!
Patricia (aka @pbisallergyfree) is a writer at Chicago Eats Allergy Free and I found her one day when I was looking for information on allergies. I posted on her blog and she not only came to mine in return, but emailed me! She was so sweet and asked me if she include me in her weekly roundup! Wow, was I thrilled and honored. I was even more excited when I got to see the final piece which you can read here.
I really enjoy her writing style and her view on living allergy-free. She writes in her “about” section,
“While I’m not a chef, I’m pretty good at MacGyvering* food. Most allergy-free cuisine tastes pretty horrible. Once I tried to unload some very dry, bland, and off-putting beige brown rice bread on some geese at a nearby pond. I watched them take a few bites, and the ungrateful geese spit out my bread and backed away from me. It was then I decided that if hungry geese in the middle of November don’t want to eat this bread than neither should I and so began my quest for allergy-free food that actually tastes good”.
Patricia enjoys sharing advice on allergic living, good restaurants, safety-tips, recipe do’s, where to shop as well as being a PAC (Protect Allergic Children) consultant with ELL, a n0n-profit organization that stands for Eating, Living and Learning, where Patricia helps families, schools and daycare centers thrive in an allergy safe environment.
Oh, and Patricia also thinks Macgyver is a hottie – mullet and all baby! He was like totally, part of the rad 80′s culture incase you don’t remember him
He could build a bridge out in the jungle with a pack of toothpicks and some telephone wire. Aaaah, love the 80′s.
Patricia is a great Tweep and fun-tabulous writer! You can find her at Chicago Eats Allergy Free and on Twitter at @pbisallergyfree
