Adios with this…
Hellooooooo with this!
Today’s Make Stuff Monday is a filling and Zesty, south of the border recipe that comes straight from your very own kitchen. It can be a man (or woman) pleasing meaty dish, allergy-sufferers paradise or a vegan’s delight. The thing I love most about a homemade pizza is that it feels like I am a van Gogh in the kitchen. A splash of olive, a little pepperoncini here or whatever. It’s like the perfect outlet for that burning energy of creativity….and then you get to eat it. With all respect, could van Gogh do that?
Oun’t thank so. (that is one of my “special” words. Kinda like I and don’t mix together, follow)?
Here is one of our family’s favorite meals straight from the family vault….
Ingredients for the crust courtesy of Cooks.com
-1 pkg. dry yeast
-1 c. warm water
-1 tsp. sugar
-1 tsp. salt
-2 tbsp. oil
-2 1/2 c. flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remainder of ingredients and beat well. Let rest 5 minutes. Put onto greased cookie sheet and spread to edges with greased hands. Add your favorite sauce and toppings. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.
Toppings:
(Optional! Pick whatever you like here…this is just what the SGFamily likes)
-hamburger or turkey burger, browned and drained
-one can of black olives, sliced
-capers, as many as you like
-one can of refried beans
-one medium size jar of salsa
-pepperoncini or banana peppers, as many as you like
-Cumin
-one 8oz pkg of shredded cheddar cheese, shredded vegan cheddar, goat cheese or NO CHEESE at all!
(This all depends on what dietary restriction or choices you have, again van Gogh – YOU get to create this masterpiece)! We chose “no cheese” by accident since I forgot to pick up some goat cheese for our little dude (our E who has food allergies).
1. Once your dough is prepared, you will want to spread it evenly on a greased cookie sheet.
2. In a bowl, combine refried beans and salsa – mixing together thoroughly
3. Spread salsa mix on pizza dough
4. Sprinkle meat (if you want it), some cumin to taste, cheese and all the rest of the toppings
5. Bake for 20 minutes at 450 degrees or until crust looks browned and cheese is melted
Slice and Serve baby! That is it. Once you have mastered and created your work of art, you can sit back and listen to the applause or better yet….grab a slice and snarf it down honey! Mmmmm………

YUM!!
I used to make a pizza similar to this one in the 13×9 pan but used a can of bisquits when time was short and just pressed them out in the bottom of the pan for the crust and used barbeque sauce as the sauce. It’s yummy that way too with the hamburger meat, olives, onion, and whatever else you like! yummy!
Ooooh! I like that too! I am thinking BBQ chicken pizza ow! Thanks Jill!!
