Aside of the airplane sitting on the runway for fifty-minutes, our kids special present of 3D liquid bubbles that we trekked all over New York city for, getting snagged by airport security (thank you kind TSA sir for saving us the empty bottle to take on board), sleep deprivation and one very sore arse from walking EVERYwhere….our trip to NYC was a blast! Lots of laughing – hard belly hurting, face stiffening, laughter!
Hubs and I arrived in NYC Sunday and rang in our first evening with a pricey beer from a local pub. Whatdayado? We were so excited because we had been planning to surprise his sister and her hubs who live there and was it ever! She had no idea and that was awesome. We also sported our Hoosier-selves on the sidewalks outside the Kathie Lee and Hoda Today Show. Hubs called home and the kids went BONKERS seeing us on t.v. as the super stars we are. Cuz you know, going inside and on-air – showing up Chelsea Handler would not have been cool. We’re just classy like that.
The other exciting thing and reason for our trip was that I was able to go to the Modern Mom’s Editor Showcase at the Marriott. So WOW – that was CrAzY and awesome and exciting and, and, and yeah. Loved being able to put some faces with others who I have talked to on Twitter or here. There were big magazines and t.v. and some really sweet mom bloggers too. Here’s a shot of my booth! You likey?
Are you wondering what super-cool smilinggreendaddio did during the showcase? He went to check out some way Mafia-like Russian tavern for a horseradish infused vodka with his sis. He was quite nervous impressed with the way their waitress showed no facial expression what-so-ever the entire time. Apparently their favorite waitress “Ulga” had the day off. Thank God SGD didn’t say “how YOU doin” to her or you may have heard about him in the papers.
So the BIG event? It was awesome!! There were so many friendly people there, sipping wine, laughing, mingling – sophistication at it’s finest! What did I do? Well, besides trying to figure out a way to get a hold of that wine, I passed out my postcard and had some fun conversations! Oh my, I had some great talks with some great mom’s, writers, bloggers, companies, and Editors from all over! Yowsa, right? I did my best not to be my usual dorky self of course. It never fails, I seriously have issues with foot-in-mouth syndrome. Not to worry, I managed to not only keep myself from saying anything completely dumb, but I never even spilled food or drinks down my front. That’s what I call success! Boo-Yeah!
Oh and you see the outfit I have on? I have to let you in on my little secret – it was from Plato’s Closet! I cannot wait to share that shopping adventure with you. For those who may not know already – Plato’s is a brand name consignment shop. This outfit was perfect for me to wear and I only spent 3.00 on the camisole, 7 on the shirt and 10 on the pants. Oh how I love me some thrift stores. It is the best feeling to find exactly what you want without the guilt of spending half your paycheck, you know? Takes all the joy out of it for me – that’s why I hate to shop. But this ladies – wow. Brand “new-ish” outfit for 20 bucks. May have to reevaluate my stance on the whole shopping experience now.
So aside of the astronomical prices and over-stimulation – we loved our time in the Big Apple. New York is truly amazing and glamorous, and I cannot believe those New-yawkers walk those streets everyday. It was a sad reminder to me that I’m waaaaaay out of shape.
Really though – thanks so much to all of you for reading, commenting and being so awesome to me on Twitter! I have been in total Twithdrawal for four days and I cannot wait to get back my buds. You are all awesome! I hope you have a great few days too and can’t wait to catch up.
So here I sit in our plane (Hubs got the window seat and I got the seat next to the bathroom – eeeew), ears popping as we make our descent into Indianapolis Indiana (affectionately known as home sweet home) exhausted and soo anxious to see our babies!!! Oh how I miss them
The Pilot just let us know that the current temp is 70 degrees – What The???? So signing off to go enjoy that fresh 70 degree Hoosier Air!
xoxo,

Sounds like it was AWESOME! So glad you got to have such a great experience.
And, we likey the booth. lol
Hey thanks girlie! I am soooo glad you like it *cartwheel*
Looks like you had a great time! The booth looks great (and the outfit too!!) It’s funny I’ve always sold the kids clothes to Once upon a Child (the kids branch of Plato’s) and just recently thought I should actually start looking there- half the stuff I sell looks brand new, there’s bound to be other great finds! Glad you made it back home safe and sound to the kiddos!
Hey thanks Ruby! It really was fun – and yes! You should check out Plato’s – they have great clothes. I am def going to have to go back for my spring stuff. It’s not as cheap as a garage sale or Goodwill but it def has affordable STYLISH goodies in great condition. I’m sold on them!
Hope you are all well -Spring is coming!!!
The booth looks awesome & it sounds like it was a blast. I totally agree on thrift store finds, they rule my world.
