Tomorrow our kids go back to school and it is time to get ready for some healthy breakfast ideas! Geeesh…it seems like it was just yesterday that we were picking out our bathing suits! So I guess this means that the carefree, sleeping-in, picking strawberries from our garden barefoot kinds of mornings are reserved for weekends only now. Boo hiss. This also means more stress, less time and an even greater need for a plan! Planning now for healthy breakfast ideas for kids can make it so much easier during this school year, and easier mornings for mom plus happy full kid bellies = Bliss.
I try so hard to stay organized, but just when I think I am good-to-go, something always wrecks it for me. It’s never my fault, nope. It’s true, I could totally be “on-it” at all times if it were not for some unexplainable, inevitable force that comes crashing through at the worst possible moment. It’s like being ready to walk out the door and suddenly one of your kids has to poop. Inconvenient poop can be such a plan wrecker.
So I have been collecting my thoughts and making lists as to how I want to go about preparing breakfast in the easiest healthiest way and also fresh ideas for packing our kids lunches this year. I have our Planetbox sparkling clean and ready to go for lunches and I went grocery shopping yesterday with my list and mental game-plan for breakfast ingredients too! I want to know our kids had a delicious breakfast containing all kinds of vitamins and minerals and that their little tummies would feel all full n happy till lunch time. So here’s where I am with this and I thought I would share what I have put together and I would love to hear about some of the recipes and ideas that you have for your own or your kids breakfasts!
According to kidshealth.org, “Breakfast is Brainpower! It’s important for kids to have breakfast every day, but what they eat in the morning is crucial too. Choosing breakfast foods that are rich in whole grains, fiber, and protein while low in added sugar may boost kids’ attention span, concentration, and memory — which they need to learn in school.”

Now here is the whole kabuda (that’s real word according to the SGM dictionary)!
Find a block of time to bake. When you do make a recipe – double it and freeze the goodies up so that all you have to do during the before school choatic rush is grab, warm and go! That is KEY! Some of these cannot be made ahead and that’s okay when the majority of your mornings will be well-thought out. As long as there’s no last minute kid poops. Fingers Crossed!

Made whole wheat waffles for my kids last night, as today way the first day of school. Lots of fun for them and no extra work in the morning. My son was so nervous for his first day of kindergarten he could barely eat, though.
Great ideas! It is an absolute must and priority for me to “feed their brains” before school in the morning. Something I decided to start making that will be super easy at the 6 a.m. hour are breakfast quesadillas….fun, healthy and delicious!! I think I’ll start with egg, cheese and veggie bacon, but it will be easy to sneak in added veggies, too!
Oooh whole wheat waffles would be super yummy! I don’t have a waffle iron tho :/ We had our first day of school today too and our E (kindergarten) was crying and telling me his tummy hurt until about 15 minutes before we left and then he *magically* got happy! I think it was nerves – my tummy hurt too lol! They both did great though!
Okay – now I am seriously starving! A quesadilla sounds awesome! Great idea
We made the turkey sausage with hashbrowns this a.m. – yum! I bet you could do vegan sausage right?
