I have been on a mini-investigation of sorts for the last few months. So now, I can officially add “investigative reporter” to my resume. It’s a hard job, really. But I am happy to do the dirty work for you guys.
Skincare is a biggie for me. I have icky dry skin (thanks mom) and our E has dealt with eczema since he was a baby. So this has really made me more aware of what products we are using and boy they *better* be good to handle our dragon-like scales. (Isn’t that a sexy image of me)!
(Here we are, me and my E)
I am there, in the back left-hand corner. Here’s a close-up…
Yes, I know. Sexy!
So you see, I am in my twenties (okay fine thirties) and skincare has become something that I am forced to think about. I basically grew up at our local swim club as a child and spent many summer days basking in the hot sun as a lifeguard. My mom was adamant that I wear sunscreen which of course I *always* did. And by always, I mean whenever she was around! Had I known how important it really is for young girls to take care of their skin – I would have been more diligent!
Fast forward a few years and let me share with you my 30th Birthday! You know you are getting old when your mom takes you to get anti-aging moisturizers for your special day. Yep. My mom (with loving intentions) took me out for anti-wrinkle cream on my Birthday. Sigh.
So you see…reality has sunk in that I am no longer able to not care about this issue. That is, if I want to avoid the raisin-look at 40. Which brings me to the review that I, “investigative reporter” SGM wants to expose!!! Yes, ladies and gents, put on those dark glasses and meet me in the alleyway. You’ve got 60 seconds - oh and come alone.

WHAT DID I THINK:
I have spent THREE solid months using Good For You Girls, natural skincare made with pure organic ingredients. I am thoroughly, completely and totally hooked on using this! When I was offered this review, I explained that our M is not really old enough to be using this kind of stuff yet and they assured me that many mom’s have become fans and use it as part of their daily skincare routine. So I thought I would try it out, not really thinking that it would make a difference for me, but it has. I kid you not, this persistent little “laugh line” on my forehead seems to have diminished somewhat along with a few little creases. I use it, and my face feels soft – not greasy or oily and not tight and dry which often happens for me. It’s just the right amount of botanicals to really soothe my skin. I was sent 2 different types of cleanser (gel cleanser and the blemish wash) and my favorite is the blemish wash as it has little Jojoba beads in it that exfoliate and leave my face feeling like silky chocolate. mmmm!
And here is the deal for me! The price. Unfortunately I just am not in the position to spend a boat-load on products. So now I LOVE Good For You Girls even more because it is affordable!!!!
You can purchase the entire skincare set for just 19.99!!!
That is so affordable especially because it lasts for.ever. They say the set last for 4-6 months and here is what I have used so far.
Not that much! I use it every night before bed so if you or a young girl were to use this twice a day then it would be about half gone, right! And since I have been using this for 3 months, that would mean it will last me waaaaaay longer than 6 months and definitely that long for someone who is using it twice a day! WOW!!! That makes the price about $3.33 per month for awesome ORGANIC skincare! It just doesn’t get better than that. I am sold and our M will ABSOLUTELY be using this also in a few years!!
This skincare is designed for young girls who are just beginning to need and use skincare products. It is so vital that we get our daughters off to a healthy start in taking care of their body and skin without toxic chemicals!

I really like their website’s list of ingredients to avoid — thorough, but accessible. Good to know they don’t put any of that stuff in their products!

Good article with several interesting suggestions! I can’t say that I completely agree with all you have suggested here, but there are many key ideas you have highlighted that can be quite usable on natural health and associated topics. Please keep providing more ideas on this topic and associated issues, as there are quite a few folks who are trying to understand the pluses and minuses.
