Today we honor the great Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) and activist and prominent leader who inspired change in the hearts of many. Dr King had the courage and the wisdom to see the goodness of man and the great potential for human kindness, for doing what’s right, for seeing the issue at hand in our society…and taking one very important step forward.
He had the courage to use his voice and challenge society as a whole. He walked in faith. His determination to create change could not be broken while the flame shown brightly in his heart for no man to ever extinguish. It is this passion and energy that can change the world. It has changed the world.
It is the act of taking a step forward toward change that inspires me daily to live greener and share the message of hope. We have the ability to change our world and to make things right. We can choose to turn a blind eye towards the environmental issues we continue to create and the burden we continue to place on our planet. Or we can choose the path of change. We, too can follow Dr King’s leadership and use our voice to share with others the benefits of choosing healthy products. We can use our actions and refuse to purchase those products that contain potentially dangerous ingredients, while supporting those companies who care about the wellness of mankind and Earth.
All it takes is a little courage….
faith,
hope
and the belief and desire to make a difference.
It does not matter how things are, or how things have always been or what the easy road might be. We deserve to have products with healthy ingredients. Our kids are worthy of eating foods without pesticides. Our family’s should live in a home that is free of toxins and chemicals. Our planet’s animals and creatures have the right to live in their natural habitat without feeling threatened. Our Earth deserves better.
It is my hope that today, as you read about or think about the great Dr Martin Luther King, Jr, that you will know that we all have the ability to be leaders and to create change. And I believe that Dr King would have encouraged all of us to follow our hearts and to do what we know and believe is right. I hope that his legacy can encourage all of us to choose the greener path, even if it is uphill….and to walk this path in faith.
“Like anybody, I would like to live a long life.
Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now.
I just want to do God’s will.
And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over.
And I’ve seen the Promised Land.
I may not get there with you.
But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!”
