Who is smiling green mom? I am a thirty-something Christian wife and a mom seeking simplicity and natural living while juggling daily family life.
I started smilinggreenmom.com as a gathering place for moms, women and anyone interested in simplifying, helping their family to live a pure and healthy life without chemicals and additives, and sharing information (tried and true) on how to create a healthy home. I want to learn with other moms, share what I have learned and to have a fun and uplifting place to come together and share, well, “mom stuff”. As a mom, I know how crazy and busy life can feel sometimes, so much of what I would like offer are some easy ideas that will help you simplify your life, while living green….and having a great time along this journey!
I hope you visit often and leave here inspired and smiling!
Lynn

Lynn, seriously I didnt even realize it was you until now!!! My mom just told me! I have been looking for you on FB and Twitter since Myrna told my mom about your new “gig!” What a great website, I am so excited to keep up with you this way! Sounds like we are on the same road with the kids and the natural approach. You can also check out my blog at chaoscalm.blogspot.com
LOL, Ruby!!! You totally crack me up
I will absolutely come check out your blog!! Isn’t that funny…I always knew we were on the same page!
I saw the feature in my town about your son and his (and yours!) struggle with eczema….I would love to know what probiotics you are using…we are on the steroid roller coaster with our 11 year old daughter and have been since she was about 6 months old. I am completely open to trying more natural remedies at this point…nothing else is working and she has all of the symptoms that your son had. She is in 6th grade now, and boys are starting to matter and she is extremely saddened by the eczema and the constant itching. I’d appreciate you sharing your knowledge and product usage with me!! I am once again feeling there may be some hope…
Thanks, and God Bless,
Trish
Oh Trish, I am so very sorry to hear this about your daughter. Eczema has so many side effects…even mentally and emotionally. I am really thankful that you saw the news story on our little guy – that was my prayer that we could help others
Those steroids are nothing but rotten – Our son was steroid dependent and I truly believe that it was damaging his body. It seemed to be the only thing that his allergist wanted do about the condition. Frustrating. Once he got off them though he seemed to get stronger and healthier and he finally grew…he was so small. I feel bad bc I know how hard the middle school age can be for us girls…and I will pray that she gets better too
The answer to your question- VIDAZORB BELLYBOOST PROBIOTICS are the one’s that have helped our son so so much! They are incredible! Our son loves them and our daughter takes them now too for all their benefits and I take the adult Vidazorb! They are all chewable and don’t need refrigerated, they do not contain dairy or gluten or artificial anything. You can find them at http://www.vidazorb.com or at http://www.allergyfreeshop.com (search by product name “Vidazorb”) I understand your sadness for your child…I really do. Please keep in touch and let me know how she does with this okay! Ask me any questions you want or just come back for support
Take care Trish.
Lynn
P.S. Does she have food sensitivities or allergies?
P.S.S. We do not use any soaps or detergents on our son. We use baking soda and pure olive oil in his bath water and it helps so much too with moisturizing his skin!!! Natural goodness

Hi there,
I read your son’s story on Vidazorb’s site and was very much encouraged. My 15 month old son has a lot of food allergies including milk, wheat, soy, eggs, peanuts, beans and lentils. We are seeing an allergist to find out if he has any more allergies. He is also allergic to cats and dogs. I have stopped using cortizone creams and his meds. I used it sparingly to being with but when he broke out I always had to rely on them.
My question is, from your experience is it too early for my son to be given probiotics? I really want to start him on it but I am going to talk with the allergist to see what he has to say. I wish I had an option of seeing a Homeopathic doctor but I don’t . I am still BFing and avoiding all the allergens and still not seeing any improvement. It is so upsetting and frustrating to see your baby suffering and there is nothing you can do. I pray for him and have been trying aloe and avocado oil. Don’t know what else to do.
Sorry about the long email but I hope that you will have some words of wisdom for me. Thank you and God bless
Oh Tina! Your story just pulls at my heart-strings. I am so sorry that you and your little guy have to suffer from this…and everyone who loves you. I know how hard it is and frustrating – so exhausting and you just want to fix it for him. We did not have a good experience with our allergist bc he pushed steroids so hard when our E was so little and we believed him. It led to our two year old being steroid dependent and getting very sick and lethargic. I know there are great docs out there who have the best intentions and our experience could have been a fluke. It is great that you have a professional to seek advice from! We tried everything – food eliminations, holistic meds, homeopathics – you name it. The Belly Boost probiotic really was our miracle. I love it so much and would just love to know if it could help your son! Everything works differently for different people but you just never know! Belly Boost cacn be given to a child as young as yours – from Vidazorb.com “Vidazorb® chewable probiotics are formulated to be safe and effective for all users. The Belly Boost™ tablets are simply a size that is not recommended for children under 4 years of age. However, parents may choose to give them half a tablet at a time or crush the tablet and put it in food or formula.” I really do hope this helps and they offer TONS of great deals all the time for a price reduction. Our belly bacteria is really being shown to have a HUGE impact on health for us all – please let me know if this helps you!!! Watch out for a few things tho – 1. the oil you are using? Try olive oil instead and see if that might help 2. baths with baking soda and olive oil 3. it may not be one of the top allergens in your diet or his. Our E reacted to intolerances to things too such as colorings and flavorings. I know that may seem daunting to face and that is why the probiotic helped our E. It helped his body to tolerate many foods that were causing a problem that were not necessarily allergens. I will be thinking of you and hope this works! Blessings to you
I just wanted to come back and let you know that I contacted Vidazorb about giving the probiotics to my little man and got the MOST encouraging and kind reply. It made me feel great to know that Vidazorb is run by wonderful people. That mail itself made me want to go out and buy it asap. It is nice to know that your son has had great improvements using a probiotic. In my research, I read that kids that are not born naturally have less of the good bacteria in their guts, interesting, don’t you think!
Thank you so much for a sweet and encouraging reply:) It is so nice to hear from moms who understand the ordeal of dealing with eczema and food allergies. I am definitely going to try Vidazorb. I mainly use olive oil for cooking but I tried it as a massage oil for my son when he was very young and he broke out. It could have been anything since I was not too aware of his other allergies. I do use it in cooking but use Avocado oil for his massages. He seems fine with it so far but we are waiting on his allergy test results.
Thank you and lots of big hugs for being so approachable and helpful. God bless you and your wonderful family
